Marketing on
the Internet

Professor Hofacker

  1. To familiarize students with networked computers and the Internet. Students will learn to use the several Internet services such as the World Wide Web, Email, and Usenet. Use of these services for marketing purposes requires both technical and cultural understanding.

  2. To study the ways that marketing can be done, and is being done, using the Internet. As the semester progesses, we should not be surprised to find the ways that the network is being used by marketers rapidly evolving.

  3. To learn how to produce a Web site. In order to do this, students will need to learn how to use FTP to move files around the network and will need to know the ins and outs of Unix commands. In addition, students will learn HTML, and how to digitally manipulate images. There will be at least one homework and one group project where you set up Web pages.
