Introduction

The Issue Correlates of War (ICOW) project is a research project that is attempting to collect systematic data on contentious issues in world politics. More detail on the project's goals and theoretical underpinnings may be found in the papers generated by the project, which are available on the official ICOW home page.

The ICOW Project has registered the Internet domain name ICOW.org through eNom.com, an accredited domain name registrar in Redmond, Washington. The .org signifies ICOW's status as a nonprofit organization. Of course, the ICOW project and icow.org have nothing to do with icow.com or icow.net, and we also have no connection with similar acronyms for Ice Cream on Wheels, the auction company Icoworks Inc. (stock ticker: ICOW.F), the German company ICOW IT-Concepts, the Intervarsity Christian Organization of Webmasters, the Institute of Clerks of Works, or the In Celebration of Women awards.

icow.org Web Pages

The ICOW project has made available ICOW.org URLs for project-related web pages. All ICOW.org URLs are currently redirected to pages on Paul Hensel's web site at Florida State University, including this page (which is located either at http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~phensel/icoworg.html or at http://about.icow.org). Users may find the ICOW.org URLs easier to remember than the full address at the standard FSU site, although the magic of URL redirection means that they will actually be visiting the original site rather than some new site at a different server. The following ICOW.org URLs have been assigned so far:

icow.org Email Addresses

The ICOW project has also made available ICOW.org email addresses for project researchers, which (like the URL forwarding discussed above) redirect sent mail to standard email accounts at FSU or elsewhere. For example, mail sent to Paul Hensel's address hensel@icow.org (or phensel@icow.org) will be forwarded to his standard FSU email account at phensel@garnet.acns.fsu.edu. The service is the same and will reach the same place, but is probably much easier to remember. The following ICOW.org email addresses have been assigned so far:

If for some reason these email addresses are not functioning, please notify me at my standard FSU email address. There is probably some sort of problem with eNom's mail server, and I will attempt to email them to notify them and help resolve the problem. All of these email addresses have been tested and functioned properly when the account was initially set up.
