Assignment #1 County Profile
You are a staff planner for Bay County. The County Council has recently
asked the planning department to prepare a demographic and socioeconomic
profile of the county that includes data from the recently completed 2000
Census.
Assignment #2 Extrapolation Exercise
You are a planner for Florida’s
Great Northwest, Inc. an economic development organization set up to
promote development in the Florida Panhandle. You have been tasked by the FGN
Board to develop population projections for several of the counties in the
region (Bay County, Calhoun County, Gulf County, Walton County, and Washington County). Because they need these results
very quickly, you have chosen to utilize the extrapolation technique to
develop these county population projections.

Assignment #3 Applying
the Cohort Component Model to Bay County
You have been asked to
prepare a set of population projections through 2030 for Bay County, Florida, using the cohort component
technique. These population projections require five year age-sex-race cohort
population data from 1990, 1995, and 2000 as initial inputs to the analysis.
You will be generating projections for four subgroups of the population for
2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020: 1) White Males, 2) White Females, 3) Non-White
Males, 4) Non-White Females.

You have been asked to complete an
analysis of Bay County’s economic base. Using data produced by the United States Census Bureau as part of the County Business Patterns series,
you will calculate the following values for Bay County:

The number of basic sector jobs in Bay County

The number of non-basic sector jobs in Bay County
3)
A base multiplier for Bay County
